At CSSvSource, Lauren found her passion, a supportive team of strong women, and the opportunity to grow into the leader she is today. With a leadership style rooted in communication, collaboration, and lifting others up, she believes success isn’t just about personal victories—it’s about empowering those around you.
In this interview, Lauren shares the defining moments that shaped her career, the importance of women in leadership, and how she balances it all while inspiring others.
Can you share a defining moment in your career that shaped the leader you are today?
A defining moment was starting my career at CSSvSource. Previously, I found myself in a career path that I was not passionate about but in an industry that I enjoyed. Being hired into a role where I can utilize my previous experience with the option to grow in the industry, gave me the opportunity I needed to excel. I joined a team of women, led by our extraordinary leader Andrea, that provided me a supportive work environment with a fresh start to learn and grow into the leader I am today.
How has being a woman in leadership influenced your perspective in the workplace?
I put a huge emphasis on relationships and communication. This allows for a collaborative and informed environment where everyone is heard, seen, and involved. I believe understanding other perspectives allows the opportunity to effectively provide support both professionally and personally.
What is one leadership lesson that you think all women should know?
Lead with the intent to lift others. There are few things as fulfilling as seeing others thrive and knowing your support might have made a difference in their lives, no matter how big or small. Success isn’t only defined by your own victories, but also by those of the others you have helped along the way.
How do you maintain work-life balance while excelling in a leadership role?
My team will be the first to tell you that I personally have a hard time “shutting off” after the workday ends or while I’m out of office. Being available to my team, clients, and vendors is important to keep the open communication and collaborative environment I put so much emphasis on. However, being a good leader sometimes means knowing when to step away to rejuvenate yourself to be able to be your best. I’m very lucky to find myself in a small team of incredible women that have my back and take on my workload as needed if I have to step away!
What does Women’s History Month mean to you?
Women’s History Month means to celebrate the woman who have paved the path both in the workplace and in their personal lives. Recognizing the women in my life who have mentored and inspired me to be the woman and leader I have become. It also means to encourage and empower women to reach for new goals while recognizing your personal strengths and accomplishments and celebrating those as well.
